University of Rhode Island men’s basketball coach Jim Baron was fired Sunday after 11 years and a 7-24 season. Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn said on the university’s website that a nationwide search for a successor would begin immediately. He did not say why Baron was released from his contract, which had two years remaining.
