UIC men’s tennis sophomore James Li was named to the All-League Second Team at the Horizon League Championship banquet on Friday evening.

In its last game of the regular season, the UIC men’s tennis team (4-15/2-5 HL) were able to hold off Valparaiso (8-14/0-7 HL) and take a 6-1 win, leaving the Crusaders without a win in the Horizon League this season.

On a day honoring its senior pair of Nate Kirk and Scott Shepardson, the UIC men’s tennis team (3-15/1-5 HL) battled through frigid temperatures as it faced Northern Illinois (20-7) at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts on Friday, ultimately falling in a 5-0 decision after two matches went unfinished.

Returning from its first Horizon League win, the UIC men’s tennis team (3-14/1-5 HL) gets set for its final matches of the dual season. The Flames are scheduled to host Northern Illinois (19-7) in a non-conference match on Senior Day on Friday at 3 p.m. (CT) at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts, before hitting the road to face Valparaiso (8-13/0-6 HL) on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) at the Valpo Tennis Complex.

Coming out strong in doubles and carrying over momentum into singles, the UIC men’s tennis team (3-14/1-5 HL) came away with its first Horizon League win of the season on Sunday when it defeated conference-foe Youngstown State in a 4-3 decision at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts.
