Sophomore Lukasz Adamczyk received the Elite 89 award during the NCAA men’s gymnastics banquet in Norman, Okla. The honor recognizes a model student-athlete, one who has reached the championship level, while also achieving a top academic standard.

The 2012 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championship begins Thursday at 1:00 p.m. inside Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla., as nine members of the UIC team compete individually in the event.

The UIC men’s gymnastics team will send nine members to the NCAA competition, which begins Thurs., April 19 and concludes Fri., April 21 in Norman, Okla., as Oklahoma serves as the host institution to the event.
